The weakest point of most timber and composite doors is the strike plate, the small metal piece that the bolt latches into. Standard strike plates are held in place by short screws that bite only into the door jamb. A kick or shoulder charge pulls the whole plate, and often the doorframe, away from the wall.
What this kit changes
- 16 gauge stainless steel plate with reinforced edges, around three times the thickness of a standard plate
- Four hardened 75 mm screws that bite past the door jamb and into the stud behind
- Two additional 50 mm screws for the deadbolt latch plate
- Step by step fitting guide on a single A4 card
- Compatible with most British and European mortice and Euro profile doors
Most homeowners can install the kit in under 15 minutes with a Phillips screwdriver and a hand drill. Suitable as a low cost upgrade for rental homes, ground floor flats, and back doors that open onto gardens.
Ten year warranty.
